CROP PRODUCTION FLUCTUATION AND AGRICULTURAL TRANSFORMATION: IMPACTS OF CONSTRUCTING A CLOSURE DAM

A closure dam was constructed on Little Feni River at Musapur Union, Noakhali District by Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) in 2016. The study assessed crop production fluctuations between pre and post period of the construction this dam. Data were collected from Department Agricultural Extension (DAE), Companiganj Upazila, BWDB, Noakhali. Besides, an inception meeting arranged DAE with different participants for two consecutive days three focused group discussions (FGD) almost all stakeholders done to triangulate result. trend calculated data retrieved 2011 2018 projection study. result showed a revolutionary increasing Brassica juncea, Arachis hypogaea, Allium sativum 1214%, 1400%, 1600%, respectively. Followed by, positive Oryza sativa, Cajanus cajan, Pisum sativum, Capsicum annuum, wintry vegetables Cucumis sativus 30.97%, 116.41%, 200%, 145.83%, 52%, 475%, And nearly stable found Ipomoea batatas, spices Lathyrus 4%, negative 7.59% 8.86%, concluded that might be greatly influenced high rate crops area.
